About me
I am a 17-year-old pianist who began my musical journey at the age of five. I study IGCSE Music and Composition at ABCIS and had the honor of performing with the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Orchestra at Saimuse in 2024. My dedication to the piano has been recognized with several notable accolades, including:
-
First Place in the Tchaikovsky group at the Singapore International Young Pianist Competition (2025),
-
Second Place in the Chopin group at the Singapore International Young Pianist Competition (2025),
-
Gold Medal from the Royal Resonance International Music Competition.
Where many perceive a mere instrument, eighty-eight keys of ivory and ebony capable of captivating sound, I discovered an unending passion, a lifelong companion.
The piano, however, offered me its most profound gift not as an instrument, but as a bridge. It ushered me into the world of the visually impaired, a realm defined not by sight, but by a heightened perception of sound, a life felt rather than seen. It was in this space, suspended between their world and mine, that I found an extraordinary resonance.
The fundamental duality that defines their experience, Light and Darkness, became a perfect, poignant reflection of my own: The White Keys and The Black Keys.
This is not a coincidence; it is a harmony. It is the very soul of this website's minimalist design.
What if the prize from a world-class piano competition could fund a student's education? What if a 3D printer could give a visually impaired child new ways to learn? I don’t just ask these questions; I create the answers. I am Hoang Long, an innovator and pianist from The ABC International School (Class of 2026).
And now, I invite you to explore the world this harmony has built.
QUOTE
"The piano keys, whether black or white, are musical notes that connect us through sound, not sight."
The Beginnings of a Musical Journey
5 years old
Start to play piano
Since I was 5 years old, I’ve been acquainted with the first piano keys. From that point on, music became an inseparable part of my life. Over the past twelve years, I’ve spent countless hours practicing tirelessly, never giving up, and achieving milestones that I can now look back on with pride. The medals and awards I’ve received stand as clear evidence of my perseverance - proof of the painful, exhausting hours I’ve spent with the piano.

CHALLENGES
10+
Music Competition
To reach these accomplishments, I’ve faced numerous challenges. There were times when my fingers ached so badly I could barely move them, but I never gave up. Whenever I felt tired, I’d think of the melodies I love, the sensation of my fingers gliding over the keys, creating beautiful sounds. In those moments, I would forget the pain and exhaustion. Music became a powerful mental remedy, giving me the strength to push through any obstacle.
The Universal Power of Music
But to me, music isn’t just a passion or a form of entertainment. One day, I was introduced to a world I had never experienced before: the world of the visually impaired. It was through music that I connected with this world, opening a new door for me. I realized that music isn’t just an art form, it’s a bridge that connects those who cannot see the light to the world around them.
When playing piano for the visually impaired, I realized that music can become a bridge between light and darkness. Each piano key, whether black or white, holds life, a story that only those who truly listen can appreciate. Even though they cannot see, music allows them to feel what the eyes cannot, to sense the vastness of the world around them. In those moments, I understood that music transcends all barriers, becoming a universal language that connects the hearts of all people.

Twelve years of playing piano has taught me not only the techniques of playing but also many life lessons. I’ve learned perseverance, how to overcome difficulties, and most importantly, that music though just a form of entertainment can carry a magical power. It doesn’t just unite music lovers but becomes a bridge between different worlds, between light and darkness. Through my musical journey, I have become part of that bridge.
